Three Individuals Charged with SNAP Fraud in Pee Dee and Grand Stand
Investigation Reveals Fraud Charges
In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, three individuals have been charged with fraudulent appropriation and misuse of food stamp benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The fraud was uncovered by the Department of Social Services (DSS) across unrelated cases in Horry, Dillon, and Greenwood counties.
The Accused and the Charges
Sasha Michelle Price, 36, from Dillon County, and Robyn Davis, 45, from Horry County, both face charges of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, amounting to more than $10,000. In addition, Davis faces a separate forgery charge. The third suspect, Erin Barber, 48, from Greenwood County, is also charged with fraud, allegedly receiving $21,445 through fraudulent means.
The fraudulent benefits allegedly received by Price and Davis stand at $10,217.10 and $15,816 respectively. “The South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, is dedicated to eradicating fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct in programs administered by the agency,” the DSS said in a statement.
Taken into Custody
Price was arrested and booked at the Dillon County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Davis was booked at J Reuben Long Detention Center on a $105,000 bond and was released on Aug. 30. The case of Barber is yet to be clarified.
