Setting off on a monumental journey through the heart of California, one man named Matt Jordan is turning his passion for running into an incredible fundraising initiative. Lacing up his shoes, he aims to raise funds for the Owl’s Nest Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment Center situated in Florence.
Running for a Cause
Binging together his love for running and his passion to assist others, Jordan initiated this spectacular endeavor as a personal campaign against addiction. An issue looming more significant than ever today, with growing instances of homelessness and addicts. With roots in his personal experience with addiction, this run is a manifestation of the apple of his eye – helping those grappling with addictions.
He articulated his mission with a touch of personal dedication, “If you look around, you’re seeing more homeless people than ever. You see more addicts than ever. This is an issue that’s bigger than ever right now. So, I believe it starts at home. I like to combine my passions of the west, with my passions of helping others. And my passion for running.”
The Story of Owl’s Nest Recovery Center
The Owl’s Nest is an addiction treatment center that rose to life in 2001. The founders positioned it as an alternative to typical residential addiction treatment centers. Forming its foundation on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, the center deploys the tools of personal responsibility, self-discipline, and community building to drive rehabilitation for its attendees.
