Politics and Engagement Discussed

The esteemed Congressman Russell Fry, serving the 7th District, delivered an empowering speech to the audience at the Florence County Republican Party’s meeting in Florence, S.C. on Tuesday night. Held at the McClenaghan Administrative Complex, the event witnessed the presence of nearly 150 enthusiastic participants, extending to eminent personalities like Florence County Council Chairman William Schofield, Representative Phillip Lowe, and Senator Mike Reichenbach.

Call to Get Involved in Politics

In an impactful address that spanned approximately fifteen minutes, Fry emphasized the cruciality of the public’s active involvement in politics to bring about a significant difference in their communities. He encouraged the audience to initiate conversations with neighbors and remind them of their voting privileges, serving to reinforce the importance of their participation in the political process.

“We try to understand their hopes, dreams, or concerns about whom they vote for or not. Educate them and invite them into the tent. When we win, we change the face of this country,” Fry declared before the attentive crowd.

Open Forum Session

A lively Q&A session ensued for the next 45 minutes post the congressman’s address. He remained available for personal discussions and interactions among those who eagerly waited even after the end of the meeting, leaving only when the party chair waved the 3-minute lights-out cue.

Turning Focus on Florence

Expressing his contentment on being back home away from Washington, DC, Congressman Fry praised the potential of Florence County in the broader context of South Carolina’s economy. “Florence is uniquely poised with I-95 and I-20. It’s time to recognize the potential that lies in the up-and-coming enterprises like the battery plant,” he stated. Fry noted that Florence’s progress indubitably impacts the region, signifying its central role in South Carolina’s state development.

In his affirming words, “As goes Florence, so goes the rest of the state of South Carolina. Let’s keep electing good leaders up and down the ballot, people with progressive thinking about how to make this a more prosperous community.”

Fry’s Next Stop

Post his inspiring address in Florence, Congressman Fry’s next stop was closer to his hometown Socastee, where he was expected to attend a Veterans Resource and Appreciation Day scheduled the following day at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
