Grand Strand Culinary Scene Steals the Spotlight with ‘Palmetto Party’

A new culinary event, known as the ‘Palmetto Party’, is all set to shine a spotlight on the burgeoning gastronomic scene in Grand Strand. The objective of the event is to give visitors a taste of South Carolina’s distinguished food culture.

Highlighting Grand Strand’s Diverse Culinary Scene

‘Palmetto Party: An Insider’s Taste of South Carolina’ is being hosted through a collaboration between Visit Myrtle Beach and a acclaimed local food culture magazine. The event will welcome chefs from every nook and corner of the state, including two notable names from Grand Strand itself. These artists of the food world fervently believe that this culinary fest will play a significant role in promoting and modernizing the local food industry.

Respected local Chef Darren Smith, known for his culinary ventures like Rivertown Bistro and Bonfire restaurants in Conway, refers to Grand Strand as a location for destination dining. With over three decades of experience under his apron, Smith is thrilled about showcasing his culinary skills at the inaugural ‘Palmetto Party’.

Smith is also excited about the opportunity to interact with other chefs from across the state. He believes that events like the ‘Palmetto Party’ not only help in fostering camaraderie among chefs, but also provide a platform for visitors to sample the gastronomic delights of the area.

The Main Event

The main objective of ‘Palmetto Party’ is to give all attendees an authentic taste of South Carolina. A genuine food lover himself, Smith is all set to tickle the taste buds of the visitors with his uniquely delicious creations.

The renowned chef is widely known for his belief “what grows together, goes together”, a principle that drives him to use seasonal and local ingredients in his recipes. For the upcoming event, Smith plans to prepare a special cake made with flaked triggerfish and shrimp, set on a bed of field pea ragu and ripe tomatoes, completed with a garnish of pungent green tomato chow chow. These ingredients are all true representatives of the local region and its bountiful produce.

A Gastronomic Revolution in the Making

Smith is quite confident about the growth of the Grand Strand culinary scene, even comparing it to the famed culinary city of Charleston. He stated, “This beautiful slick magazine has come out, and page after page are the restaurants that are here and shots of the food – you can just feel it. It’s exciting.”

Officials from Visit Myrtle Beach have hinted that this is just the beginning and there are plans to continue the ‘Palmetto Party’ in the years to come. The event is scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Pine Lakes Country Club, and tickets can be purchased online till the commencement of the event.
