FLORENCE, S.C. — In an exciting announcement that celebrates dedication and service, Guardian Ambulance, part of the Priority Ambulance family, revealed on Tuesday that Allen Steele, their esteemed EMT Field Training Officer, has been honored with the coveted 2024 American Ambulance Association (AAA) Stars of Life Award. This prestigious award shines a spotlight on EMS professionals who exemplify exceptional commitment and service to their communities.
From Volunteer to Veteran EMT
Allen Steele’s journey into the world of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) dates back to 1996, when he began volunteering with Lake Robinson Rescue. It was here that he first discovered his passion for helping others during their most critical moments. His journey took a formal turn in 1997 when he earned his EMT certification, leading him on a path that has spanned decades and crossed continents.
In 2004, Steele took a significant step by enlisting in the United States Army as a Medic. His service over more than a decade included several challenging tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he honed his medical skills and learned to provide calm, effective care in the most hectic situations. These experiences not only shaped his expertise but also instilled an unwavering resolve in him to always prioritize patient well-being.
Back to Civilian Life and Mentoring
Returning to civilian life in 2015, Steele joined Medshore Ambulance as an EMT and Field Training Officer, where he channeled his knowledge into nurturing the next generation of EMS professionals. Now at Guardian Ambulance in Florence, he continues this important work, committed to training and mentoring future EMS leaders.
In recognizing Steele’s achievements, Jason Cooke, Vice President of Operations at Guardian Ambulance, said, “Allen’s EMS journey is a testament to his unwavering dedication to serving others. His experience and passion for teaching make him an invaluable asset to our team and the EMS community.” This kind of recognition doesn’t come easily, and it’s clear that Allen Steele is a glowing example of the best kind of service we can hope for in our first responders.
The Stars of Life Program
Steele’s selection as a precursor to the Stars of Life award is a significant milestone, highlighting his commitment to personal growth, adaptability, and his lifelong mission to assist those in need. The AAA Stars of Life Program acknowledges extraordinary contributions from EMS professionals and offers honorees a unique opportunity to attend an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. from November 11-14.
