BMW CEO Robert Engelhorn to Address Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce

FLORENCE – Robert Engelhorn, President, and CEO of BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, is set to address the 2024 Annual Membership Luncheon held by the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, scheduled for Wednesday, September 25th.

Engelhorn has been with the BMW Group since 2011, initially serving in various positions at factories in Germany. He subsequently moved to the BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture in China, where he managed the technology and production division for two plants: Dadong and Tiexi.

In 2018, Engelhorn transitioned to the role of director for the BMW Group Plant Munich. He then undertook significant efforts towards preparing the plant for the production of the all-electric BMW i4. His leadership journey continued in 2021 when he assumed the role of President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing based in Spartanburg.

BMW’s Impact in South Carolina

Having invested over $13.3 billion in the state’s operations since 1992, the BMW Group has significantly impacted South Carolina’s operations. A prominent example is the multi-year partnership that BMW has established with AESC in Florence to supply cutting-edge battery cells. These battery cells will be used in the next generation of electric vehicles manufactured at Plant Spartanburg.

BMW Manufacturing stands as one of the largest plants under the BMW Group worldwide, assembling more than 1,500 vehicles daily. More than half of these vehicles are exported around the globe, reaching over 120 markets. Consequently, BMW has earned the reputation as the largest automotive exporter by value in the United States for nine consecutive years.
