SC BMW CEO Engelhorn Set to Address Florence Chamber
FLORENCE, – The president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, Robert Engelhorn, is scheduled to speak at the 2024 Annual Membership Luncheon of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, September 25.
Engelhorn joined the BMW Group in 2011. He held various roles at plants in Germany before moving to BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) joint venture in China, where he assumed leadership of the technology and production division for the Dadong and Tiexi plants. In 2018, Engelhorn transitioned to serve as director for BMW Group Plant Munich, where he prepared the plant for production of the all-electric BMW i4. By 2021, Engelhorn had become president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg.
BMW’s Significant Contribution to South Carolina
Since 1992, the BMW Group has invested over $13.3 billion in its South Carolina operations. As part of a multi-year partnership, BMW and AESC in Florence will supply leading-edge battery cells to be used in the next generation electric vehicle models produced at the Plant Spartanburg.
BMW Manufacturing is one of the largest BMW Group plants globally, assembling more than 1,500 vehicles each day. More than half of those vehicles are exported to approximately 120 global markets, which has resulted in BMW being the largest automotive exporter by value in the United States for nine consecutive years.
Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce 2024 Annual Membership Luncheon
The Chamber’s Business Person of the Year will be announced and presented during the program, sponsored by First Bank. The luncheon will be held at the Florence Center. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and the program will commence at noon.
