Celebrating Patriotism at the 10th Annual Spirit of Central in Florence

Florence, S.C. is gearing up for a night filled with fellowship, fun, and a whole lot of patriotism! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 26, as the 10th Annual Spirit of Central takes place at Central United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. This cherished community event promises a delightful evening that both honors our nation and brings people together.

A Feast for Everyone!

The festivities kick off right at 5:30 p.m. with a mouthwatering dinner featuring hamburgers and hotdogs, paired perfectly with potato salad, corn on the cob, green beans, and juicy slices of watermelon. And for dessert? You can indulge in apple pie and ice cream! Sounds delicious, right?

The cost for this feast is just $5 per person and $2 for children. To make sure there’s enough food for everyone, it’s a good idea to call and make reservations at 843-662-3218. However, if dinner isn’t your plan and you just want to come for the program, no reservation is needed. Just show up and join the celebration!

Honoring Our Heroes

The highlight of the evening will happen at 6:15 p.m. with a touching patriotic tribute coordinated by Wayne Jackson. The event will kick off with a heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem sung by Nick Townsend, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Rivers Crouse. You won’t want to miss the traditional children’s stars and stripes flag parade guided by Teresa Brunson. This parade is a great way to include kids in the festivities, and they will be treated to games and goodies from the ice cream truck after the parade, keeping smiles on their faces!

This year, the keynote speaker is the Honorable James E. Lockmey, who serves on the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He will share a stirring patriotic message that will resonate with everyone in attendance. Additionally, members of the Florence Veterans Honor Guard will perform an American Flag Folding Ceremony, a touching moment of respect for our nation’s flag and all it symbolizes.

Entertainment for All!

If you think the evening could not get any better, just wait! Following the tributes, attendees will be treated to a lively performance by The Plaids, an enchanting group from Lake City. This dynamic ensemble will take you back in time with hits from the ’50s and ’60s, delivering classic tunes and doo-wop music that have entertained audiences for over 15 years. If you’ve never experienced them live, you’re in for a real nostalgic treat!
