Congressman Russell Fry Aims for Continued Representation of Grand Strand and Pee Dee in Upcoming Elections

Myrtle Beach, SC: Congressman Russell Fry Seeks To Continue His Work For The Grand Strand and Pee Dee

As the bustling city of Myrtle Beach prepares for the upcoming elections, excitement is in the air as hundreds of thousands of voters head to the ballot box. Among them is a familiar face: Congressman Russell Fry, who took office in January 2023. With a promising start under his belt, Fry is looking to win another term and continue representing the Grand Strand and Pee Dee regions of South Carolina.

Continuity in Progress

Reflecting on the last two years, Fry expressed his enthusiasm for the progress he believes he has made for the people of South Carolina’s seventh district. “What we have been able to deliver in the last two years, I’d like to continue that,” he stated. Among his top priorities have been the economy and border security, issues he is committed to addressing moving forward.

On Immigration and the Economy

When discussing immigration, Fry highlighted legislation he considers pivotal: “HR 2 that we passed in the house this year is a great starting point because it closes a lot of the legal loopholes that people have been abusing to come into this country. We can’t afford this anymore.” He went on to discuss the staggering number of illegal immigrants currently residing in the country, which stands at an alarming 8.5 million. “Every tax-paying citizen right now is paying $1,100 a year to support this illegal immigration scam,” he asserted.

Another hot topic on the minds of many is the federal minimum wage, set at $7.25 per hour. Fry does not support raising it, arguing, “I think that no one is making $7.25 an hour right now; most people are above that.” Instead, he believes it’s crucial to tackle inflation. “Four years ago, people had some money in their pockets and were saving. Now, credit card debt is as high as it’s ever been, and that’s because of the state of the economy.”

Infrastructure Growth

With the rapid growth of the area, infrastructure is a pressing matter for the residents of the 7th District. Fry emphasized the need for collaboration with local leaders to secure more funding. “I think part of the job of a congressman is to be the glue that kind of holds it together and works with local governments,” he explained. “Infrastructure is a core function of government, and we’ve got to do a better job.”

Education Reforms

Education is another area where Fry sees room for improvement, particularly when it comes to funding. He advocates for reducing federal control, stating, “I think the federal Department of Education needs to go away. I think the best thing for Washington to do is to eliminate the Department of Education and block grant that money to the states.” He believes that local districts would benefit from more flexibility in how they utilize the funds.

Supporting Veterans and Combatting Fentanyl

Fry also made it clear that he intends to continue supporting veterans and push for legislation that protects human trafficking survivors. Additionally, he expressed unwavering commitment to the fight against the fentanyl epidemic not only in the 7th District but across the entire state of South Carolina.

Looking Ahead

As election night approaches, Fry’s vision for his next term reflects a desire for consistency and progress in handling the complex issues that matter most to his constituents. With an array of pressing concerns, from immigration policies to infrastructure development and beyond, Fry is ready to work hard for the people of South Carolina.

The political landscape may be changing, but Congressman Russell Fry is determined to ensure that the voices of the Grand Strand and Pee Dee regions continue to be heard. It will certainly be interesting to see what lies ahead as the votes are cast and the results come in.
