Dog to be Put Down After Deadly Attack in Florence, Says Police

Florence, the Scene of a Tragic Incident

Florence, often known for its serene community and vibrant bike trails, was the unfortunate scene of an incident that has shocked the locals. A dog is scheduled to be euthanized after a deadly attack on a 71-year-old woman. The lady was innocuously biking through a local lane when an aggressive dog broke free from its leash and attacked her.

Woman Loses Life in Shocking Canine Attack

The victim, Karen Nelson, experienced multiple traumatic injuries as a result of the dog bite which led to her being knocked off her bike. Despite immediate medical attention and hospitalization, Nelson succumbed to her injuries later. A post-mortem of her body is scheduled to be carried out at the Medical University of South Carolina on the upcoming Friday.

Owners Voluntarily Surrender Dog

Post the tragic event, the owners of the dog have signed a voluntary surrender form, agreeing to the decision of authorities. This agreement has led to the cancellation of a previously scheduled hearing regarding the matter.

The final date for the euthanization of the dog is yet to be finalized, according to police Captain Stephen Starling. The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of the community and prevent any potential future incidents.

No Prior Complaints Against the Dog

Interestingly, the police reveal there have been no previous complaints lodged against the dog before this incident. However, the gruesome attack and its deadly aftermath have necessitated the dog’s euthanization for the safety of the locals in Florence. Locals are advised to stay tuned for updates on the matter.
