Elliott Moss of Buxton Hall to Open New Florence Restaurant
Florence: Anticipating a Revitalization of the Culinary Scene
Famed chef Elliott Moss, known for his work at well-regarded establishments such as The Admiral and Buxton Hall, is set to open a new restaurant in Florence. The new space, aptly christened Elliott’s, is slated to open this fall within the premises of Seminar Brewing located at 551 W. Lucas St. – a location that is adored by Moss for it reminisces his first job of picking pecans from his yard and selling them to the Young’s pecan plant.
Florence: The Hometown Beckons
The celebrated chef returned to Florence in May, drawn back by an opportunity presented by Tim Norwood of Victors Restaurant and Chef Ambassador Cooper Thomas, who invited him to be their equity partner in the newly purchased Seminar Brewing. Along with catering to the culinary aspects, Moss also desires to contribute significantly to the brewery business, using his experiences from Asheville which houses a world-class craft beer industry.
Meticulously Planned Makeover
As part of its transition, Seminar Brewing is undergoing renovations this summer, which include the addition of garage doors on the front, an enhanced parking lot, and division of the warehouse space into three distinct sections – a restaurant, a casual bar, and a lounge area near the production tanks. With these changes, the brewery aims for a grand reopening in September.
The Food Menu: A Delight for the Palates
The food items on Elliott’s menu are sure to satiate the taste buds of the patrons. Along with serving “good beer drinking food”, Moss intends to treat the visitors with classic Carolina whole hog, barbecue chicken, Texas-inspired brisket, and smoked wings, primarily on Saturdays. Another standout feature of Elliott’s will be its dedicated catering arm catering. Though the details are veiled, this new venture is sure to push the boundaries of traditional barbecue cuisine.
A Brewed Blend of Food and Drinks
Not limiting himself to just the food, Moss is keen on exploring the beer side of the venture. Plans to increase Seminar Brewing’s distribution are in the pipeline, along with infusing the beer as an ingredient for Elliott’s dishes and cocktail programs. Drinking connoisseurs can look forward to beer cocktails, frozen drinks, and other refreshing beverages aside from the craft beers.
Looking Forward: From Biergarten to Barbecue Restaurant?
Moss is intrigued by the potential of the now vacant building in front of Seminar’s Biergarten and is considering transforming it into a full-scale barbecue restaurant. While this decision is yet to be finalized, one thing is certain – Elliott’s is set to bring a surge of vibrancy and unique flavors to the Lucas Street and U.S. 52 corridor, a neighborhood that may soon host more retail stores and restaurants.
Speaking about his new venture, Moss expressed, “This is my new old home, and hopefully we can hit a home run with it. The sky is the limit.” Seminar Brewing is currently open from Wednesday through Sunday, even amidst the ongoing renovations. With the grand reopening just around the corner, the culinary and brew enthusiasts of Florence can look forward to a sea of good times mixed with enjoyable food and refreshing beers.
