Child Rescued From Fire in Florence, Several Incidents Reported in Conway

Florence, a town known for its caring community, experienced quite an eventful evening recently. Firefighters were called to the scene of a structure fire at the Indigo Townhomes located on Creekview Drive around 5:51 p.m. last Thursday. Upon arrival, first responders were greeted with a sight that no one ever wants to see: thick smoke billowing from the front of a home.

Brave Rescue Efforts

The real heroes of the day emerged as fire crews wasted no time in entering the smoke-filled building. Their primary mission? To rescue a child trapped on the second floor. Thanks to their quick actions and extensive training, the firefighters successfully brought the child to safety. Their efforts did not go unrecognized, as it was truly a heart-stopping moment for everyone involved.

With the situation escalating, the firefighters employed multiple hose lines to combat the growing flames. Their teamwork paid off in spades, as the fire was brought under control in less than 10 minutes. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among civilians or emergency responders, which is something everyone can be thankful for.

Safety Reminders

After the smoke cleared, officials took the opportunity to remind residents about fire safety. They emphasized the importance of keeping heating sources at least three feet away from anything flammable, as well as ensuring homes are equipped with working smoke alarms. These tips are crucial and could save lives in the future.

Conway’s Busy Night

On the flip side, Conway was also bubbling with excitement, albeit of a different kind. Earlier that weekend, just before 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday, Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a small kitchen fire on Bog Drive. The flames had activated the sprinkler system, which, unfortunately, caused some electrical damage to the property and affected several units nearby.

Thankfully, no one was harmed, and the American Red Cross stepped in to provide assistance to nine residents affected by the incident, helping to ensure that everyone was taken care of during this challenging time.

Tragedy Strikes in Conway

Williamson Lake Circle led to a heartbreaking tragedy. Fire rescue teams responded to the emergency around 8:31 p.m. on a Tuesday, but despite their best efforts, the flames took the life of James Bryant, 61.

With their safety gear on and determination in their hearts, at least nine ladder trucks were deployed to extinguish the fire. These crews worked tirelessly into the night, monitoring for hot spots and ensuring nothing was left to chance. It was reported that neighbors heard a loud noise followed by flames erupting from the front windows of Bryant’s home. Despite their brave attempts to help, the intense heat made it impossible to open the door in time.

The Horry County Police Department is currently investigating the cause of this unfortunate incident, reminding everyone of the seriousness of fire hazards.
