Florence Man Faces Charges for Two Assault Incidents in July

Florence, South Carolina – A 24-year-old man in Florence, South Carolina is standing trial for charges related to two distinct assaults committed in the month of July. Listed records show that Davon Cokley is being charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, second-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and trespassing.

A Series of Unfortunate Assaults

In the first incident, Cokley allegedly broke into an apartment on Attwoode Avenue and punched a mentally disabled individual in the mouth. Arrest warrants detail statements made by witnesses who saw the incident unfold. The victim was reported to have blood splattered on their lips and teeth as a result of the attack.

Three days later, on July 22, Cokley was involved in another altercation. This took place at a camp on South Irby Street, where he was staying along with another individual. Witnesses state that a confrontation broke out between Cokley and the other individual over the possession of a knife that allegedly belonged to the second party.

The Confrontation Escalated

During the confrontation, Cokley allegedly displayed the knife and swung it at the other person and then walked away from the camp premises. The arrest warrant also notes that Cokley carelessly left his baseball bat behind. When the victim noticed this and attempted to return it to him, they got into another argument. This resulted in Cokley allegedly swinging the bat at the victim, inflicting injuries on the victim’s right arm, back, and shoulder.

Present Situation

Online records indicate that Cokley was booked into the Florence County Detention Center on Wednesday and has not had a bond set yet. As the situation unfolds, pending updates about his bond status and future court dates are highly anticipated.

The rapid succession of these violent episodes has struck a nerve with local residents, increasing concerns about safety and law enforcement in the area. Further updates on this case and its potential ramifications will be reported as the story develops.
