Exciting Developments in Lake City, S.C.
LAKE CITY, S.C. — Big things are happening in Florence County, and the energy is palpable! The Florence County Council recently met at the quaint Bean Market in Lake City and made some game-changing decisions that are set to boost the local economy and enhance community infrastructure.
Growth on the Horizon
First up on the agenda was the expansion of the Florence/Williamsburg multi-county industrial and business park. Council members gave the project the thumbs up, and a new section of this park will officially be known as High Hill Commerce Park. Pretty cool, right?
This new area will be home to some impressive tenants, including the well-known Otis Elevator and Enterprise Drive LLC. The latter is already making strides by improving its property for future warehouse buildings. The High Hill Commerce Park is conveniently located off I-95 at Exit 164, boasting easy access via Otis Way and Enterprise Drive.
What can you expect from High Hill? Once it’s fully operational, it will offer a wide variety of leasing options, including flex warehouse spaces ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 square feet, and larger light industrial areas that span from 75,000 to 150,000 square feet. Whether you’re a startup or an established company, this location is shaping up to be a great space to do business!
Zoning Changes and Financial Kickstart
The Florence County Council didn’t stop there! During the meeting, they also approved a whopping 16 ordinances for zoning changes, many of which tie into the East Highway 76 Gateway Study. This is exciting news for folks in the area as it opens the door for development opportunities!
In addition, the council passed several resolutions, one being an important measure to seek approval for the issuance of Special Source Revenue Bonds. This funding, totaling $50 million, is earmarked for the development of various projects in Savannah Grove, including a new Savannah Grove Elementary School, athletic facilities, and even county service facilities. What a fantastic way to invest in the future of the community!
Investing in Public Safety
The council is also ensuring public safety remains a priority with the allocation of $1,578,582 for local Emergency Medical Services. Among the funds, there’s an exciting purchase of a BearCat vehicle, which will enhance public safety initiatives. The community is also set to benefit from infrastructure improvements, including water line extensions for towns like Olanta and Scranton.
Part of the funding will also be used for a detailed study of the EMS department, which aims to enhance the services provided to residents. With all these efforts being put into place, it’s clear that the Florence County Council is dedicated to improving the lives of its residents and ensuring everyone has access to quality services.
A Celebration of Community
As the meeting got underway, the council took a moment to recognize the fantastic accomplishments of the Jacksonville Track Club, who recently earned the title of state and regional champions. It’s wonderful to celebrate local heroes who inspire pride in the community!
As the council closed out the meeting, residents looked forward to the next gathering scheduled for October 17. It’s an exciting time in Florence County, and with so much moving toward growth and improvement, the future looks bright!
