Sponsor Our ArticlesFlorence County has seen a surge in crime recently, leading to several arrests linked to violent incidents. Authorities are actively investigating armed robberies and shootings. A notable case involves a suspect on the run after a robbery at a local store, while a 19-year-old faces serious charges connected to a shooting at an entertainment center. More arrests include a man charged with multiple robberies. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help enhance safety.
Florence County is currently buzzing with news of several arrests tied to alarming armed robberies and shootings that have rocked the community in recent weeks. The local sheriff’s office is actively investigating and making progress in the ongoing efforts to keep the streets safe.
On Wednesday evening, a man with a distinct build made headlines after he decided to rob the Bandits store located on North Bethel Road. Although he didn’t pull a gun on the clerk, the presence of what appeared to be a weapon was enough to cause chaos. The robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash and made his getaway in a car, heading towards Lake City. Law enforcement is now on the hunt for this individual, urging anyone who might have information about this crime to immediately contact authorities. Every piece of information could be crucial in catching this suspect and ensuring our community remains safe.
In another shocking development, 19-year-old Jamari Graham has been apprehended in relation to a shooting incident that took place on February 8 at the Red Circle Entertainment Center along South Irby Street. Graham is now facing serious charges including attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Surveillance footage from the entertainment center showed two suspects in the mix, but Graham is the one who faces the brunt of the charges.
Reports indicate that Graham allegedly robbed a victim at gunpoint within the club before injuring them with a gunshot wound to the head. Thankfully, the victim is now recovering. After being arrested, Graham was taken to the Florence County Detention Center and is currently waiting for a bond hearing. Sadly, a second suspect in this shooting has yet to be identified, prompting law enforcement to seek out assistance from community members in providing any tips they might have.
Moving on to another case, authorities have recently arrested 50-year-old Derick George, who is now facing a slew of charges related to a series of armed robberies that have occurred over the past month. Specifically, George is charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of carjacking, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Among George’s alleged offenses is a carjacking attempt from January 14 where he tried to take an occupied vehicle with a knife. Fortunately, no harm came to the individuals involved, as the attempt was unsuccessful. George is also accused of robbing two convenience stores earlier this month on West Palmetto Street. In each instance, he reportedly demanded cash from clerks while threatening them with a weapon.
Authorities were able to track George due to a court-ordered GPS monitor, which placed him at the scenes of the crimes. As of now, he remains at the Florence County Detention Center with no bond set for his release.
Florence County residents are advised to stay vigilant as law enforcement works tirelessly to mitigate crime in the area. The recent series of events shows that anyone can be affected by violent crime, but by working together as a community, individuals can help drive change and contribute to a safer environment for everyone.
If you or anyone you know has information regarding any of these incidents, your help is encouraged. Important details often lead to significant breakthroughs, so consider reaching out to the sheriff’s office with any tips. Together, we can strive for a safer Florence County.
