It all unfolded around 6:50 a.m. when a vigilant witness found little Dylan abandoned outside a home on Cale Yarborough Highway in Timmonsville. It wasn’t long before the authorities were alerted, and the clock began to tick as they worked swiftly to ensure the child’s safety.
Just a short while before that alarming discovery, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) had activated an Amber Alert for Dylan, which had been issued shortly before 6 a.m., sending shockwaves through the community. The alert was thankfully canceled just before 7:30 a.m. after Dylan was found safe and sound, much to everyone’s relief.
The chaotic story began the day before when Dylan was last seen in a Roses store on South Irby Street in Florence. Reports indicate that her mother, Lindsey Britt, had left Dylan in the care of Macie Eaddy, 32, while finishing her shopping. However, upon returning to the store, Lindsey discovered that both Eaddy and her child were nowhere to be found, setting off a frantic search.
Authorities pieced together the timeline, revealing that Eaddy, after taking off with Dylan in her white 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer, had abandoned the child outside around 8 p.m. in near-freezing temperatures, securely fastened in a child restraint. This revelation sent chills down the spines of those in the community.
The police quickly located Eaddy in Sumter County at around 7 a.m., after spotting her in the same Mitsubishi Lancer. At the time of her arrest, she not only faced charges for kidnapping but also had outstanding warrants from Florence County and was driving under suspension. To make matters worse, she was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
The successful resolution of the incident brought a wave of relief and gratitude among local residents. Friends of Dylan’s mother expressed their concerns about the ordeal and urged everyone to be more cautious about the company they keep around their children.
