Two Separate Stabbings Rock Florence, South Carolina

Florence, South Carolina, witnessed a troubling series of events this past week as multiple stabbings led to a heightened police presence and multiple arrests. The incidents, one at the Hilton Garden Inn and another on Laurel Circle, have left the community shaken and the authorities working to ensure safety in the area.

Hilton Garden Inn Stabbing Incident

On Monday night, chaos erupted at the Hilton Garden Inn on Hospitality Boulevard. Police, along with several Emergency Medical Services (EMS) units, responded promptly after receiving reports of a stabbing. It was a scene that prompted curiosity and concern among onlookers, as details were still emerging well into the night.

Captain Stephen Starling from the Florence Police Department was at the forefront of the investigations, assuring the public that more information would soon be on its way. However, specifics regarding the incident at the inn were yet to be disclosed, leaving the community on edge as they awaited updates.

Laurel Circle Stabbing Arrest

Just days before the Hilton incident, on Saturday morning around 6 a.m., a stabbing occurred on Laurel Circle. In a shocking turn of events, 20-year-old Javonte’ Bass was arrested following a gruesome altercation that left one man with multiple stab wounds. The victim was discovered by deputies who responded to the scene. Witnesses quickly put their trust in law enforcement, pointing towards Bass as the attacker, leading to his swift apprehension.

The confrontation between Bass and the victim escalated quickly from an argument into a physical altercation. Authorities reported that this unfortunate series of events resulted in the victim being rushed to the hospital, although updates on their condition were not disclosed.

Bass isn’t just facing the current charges; he also had an active warrant for trespassing at Francis Marion University earlier this year. Now, he is being held at the Florence County Detention Center on an impressive bond of $31,000, facing serious charges including attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Morning Mayhem at Eastern Carolina Pediatric Office

As if the events of the weekend weren’t enough, the violence continued into Monday morning at the Eastern Carolina Pediatric office on McClure Court. A disturbing incident unfolded there around 10:45 a.m., involving 33-year-old Tevin Washington. In this incident, Washington is accused of stabbing the mother of his child and her stepfather within the medical office, which is alarmingly close to MUSC hospital.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, particularly since the woman was holding their 4 to 5-month-old child at the time of the attack. Washington’s argument escalated rapidly, leading to a dangerous situation where both victims ended up with stab wounds. Thankfully, both are now reported to be in stable condition.

After the attack, Washington fled the scene with their child, igniting a quick police response. However, he was located just half an hour later at his own home, where the child was found unharmed. He is facing a serious list of charges, including two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful conduct toward a child.

Increased Safety Measures

Following these distressing incidents, MUSC Health has announced that it will implement enhanced security measures within its facilities to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. It’s a move welcomed by the community as they seek reassurance during a time of uncertainty.

As Florence continues to grapple with these alarming events, many residents hope for a quick resolution and a return to the peaceful life they cherish. Stay tuned, as more developments unfold in this unfolding story.
