As the summer officially kicks into high gear, children across Florence County are beating the heat through water play at their local splash pad. Located along South Dargan Street, the Florence Splash Pad has become the go-to destination for families wishing to keep cool and have fun.
The Splash Pad, an outdoor play area with sprinklers, fountains, nozzles, and showers, caters especially to children aged 12 and under. The unique water design and interactive features of the pad offer endless hours of fun and laughter for the kids and provide much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat.
New to the area, local resident Mike Rhodes expressed his appreciation for the splash pad, saying it’s a fantastic activity for children. He shared his experience, “We come down here to the splash pad, thought I’d bring my granddaughter down and have a good time and she’s having fun. It’s nice and shady, It’s a beautiful day here in Florence. I’m from Cincinnati Ohio originally, we moved down here two years ago, and we love South Carolina.”
Open to the public daily with operating hours from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Florence Splash Pad has become a favorite for both kids and parents alike. The late afternoon hours are particularly popular, allowing families to enjoy the cooler temperatures and the soft glow of the setting sun while the children splash around in the water.
With the Splash Pad being such a hit among residents, there are various ways to keep updated on the pad’s activities, announcements, and news. By signing up, members of the community can receive newsletters and other updates. These provide information on any planned events or maintenance schedules of the pad, ensuring families can plan their visits accordingly.
The addition of the Splash Pad to the community has created an enriching and enjoyable environment for children to play and interact, while also providing a cool refuge from Riverside’s summer heat. The popularity of the pad is a testament to the need for such community-focused initiatives. We look forward to more such community projects, all aimed at enhancing the lives of residents, particularly our young ones.
