DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A shocking incident has left the people of Darlington shaken as George Matuse Jr., a local resident, was arrested and charged with second-degree arson on Monday. Matuse Jr. is alleged to have maliciously set a mobile home ablaze, leading to substantial property damage.
On Sunday, authorities received a call reporting a house fire on Sparrow Swamp Road. Local firefighters responded promptly to the distress call and were able to contain the flames. While it was a relief that there were no casualties involved, the property sustained a significant amount of damage.
