Florence Welcomes New Independent Bookstore Jack’s Books Opening October 26

Exciting News for Book Lovers in Florence!

Hey, Florence! We have some fantastic news that’s sure to make your fall a little brighter and your reading list a whole lot longer. Jack’s Books, the city’s first independent bookstore in years, is all set to open its doors on October 26. That’s right! After months of hard work, owner Colton Cauthen has finally announced the big day. Can you feel the excitement?

A Dream Come True for Cauthen

Since April 2023, Cauthen has been busy planning his dream project, and it’s been a journey filled with anticipation. “This is just exciting,” he expressed, while also admitting to feeling “a little bit of a hint of terror” about getting everything ready in time. We can only imagine how much planning and effort has gone into making Jack’s Books a reality!

A Home for Book Lovers

Located in the 100 block of South Dargan Street, right in the heart of downtown, Jack’s Books aims to fill a void that many residents have felt for too long. For the past couple of decades, Florence has lacked a cozy independent bookstore, leaving bookworms with no choice but to turn to big box chains. The presence of Jack’s Books means that the community will once again have a special place dedicated to all things literary—a true haven for readers.

What to Expect

Cauthen has big plans for his store, aiming to house between 2,500 and 3,000 books—a delightful mix of both new and used selections, all carefully curated by him. But that’s not all! He’s also hoping to offer some unique gift items for those looking to pick up something special. We can already picture it: a quaint bookstore filled with the smell of coffee and the sound of pages turning, where everyone from kids to adults can find their next great read!

Keeping the Surprise Element

While many details about the store have been shared, Cauthen has kept most of the interior aspects a surprise. “It’s just such a different thing experiencing it in person,” he noted, hinting that what’s inside will be just as exciting as the opening day itself. We can hardly wait to see what he has up his sleeve!

Getting Involved Before the Big Day

Although the opening day is just around the corner, enthusiasts can get a taste of what’s to come by visiting Jack’s Books’ website. Right now, you can purchase audiobooks online, which is a perfect way to start supporting this exciting new venture. Plus, it gives folks a sneak peek into what the future may hold!

Join the Celebration!

If you consider yourself a book lover or just enjoy exploring new local spots, mark your calendars for the grand opening on October 26. Cauthen, along with his team, will be thrilled to welcome you into the store, share his love of books, and perhaps even help you discover your new favorite title.

As Halloween approaches, it’s the perfect time to pick up a spooky novel or two! Let’s support our local independent businesses and make Jack’s Books a cherished part of our community. Who’s ready to fall in love with reading all over again? We can’t wait to see you there!
