FLORENCE, S.C. – Big news is buzzing around Florence County! The Japanese battery technology company, Envision AESC, is ready to bring a wave of job opportunities with their new electric vehicle battery factory, set to open in 2026. And guess what? They’re hosting a job fair that you won’t want to miss!
Mark your calendars for November 13! The job fair will take place at the SIMT building on the campus of Florence-Darlington Technical College, running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’re a veteran, you’ll want to arrive early because the first hour, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., is dedicated just for you. Enjoy some refreshments as a thank you for your service before the doors open to the wider community!
The best part? No experience is required to apply! So whether you’re a fresh graduate, changing careers, or just looking for something new, you’re welcome to walk in. Just a reminder: all applicants must be at least 18 years old, and it’s a good idea to RSVP online at your local chamber of commerce’s website.
Envision AESC isn’t just any factory; it’s going to be a state-of-the-art facility sprawling over an impressive 1.5 million square feet! Groundbreaking for this innovative project took place in June 2023 at the busy intersection of Estate Road and East Old Marion Highway, right across from Wilson High School.
Originally, the factory was projected to create about 1,170 jobs. But wait, there’s more! In December 2023, Envision AESC announced an enhanced investment strategy, increasing their total investment to a whopping $1.62 billion. This move will create even more jobs, totaling around 1,620 new positions. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, in January, the company revealed plans for yet another investment of $1.5 billion, expected to generate over 1,000 additional jobs!
This expansion and the job fair are excellent news for Florence and the surrounding areas. Job seekers from all backgrounds can find new opportunities here, making this not just a job fair, but a stepping stone to a bright future. It’s exciting to see how this factory will not only bring jobs but also foster economic growth in our beloved community.
With increasing investment and job creation, it’s clear that Envision AESC sees substantial potential in Florence County. The energy around this initiative is exhilarating! It seems Florence is on track to become a key player in the electric vehicle industry, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
Florence residents, let’s support this initiative! If you or someone you know is looking for a job, spread the word! The job fair on November 13 is just the starting line for many incredible careers in battery technology and beyond.
