Historic Moment in Florence as Keon Aldrich Named First Black President of South Carolina REALTORS®

Florence, SC—We’ve got fantastic news making waves in the real estate world! Keon Aldrich, a familiar face in the Florence community and the broker of Pee Dee Elite Realty, has been appointed as the 2025 president of South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR). This isn’t just any appointment; it marks a significant milestone in SCR’s illustrious 81-year history as she becomes the first black Realtor® to take on this pivotal role. Talk about breaking barriers!

Celebrating Diversity and Progress

During a heartfelt ceremony held at SCR’s Awards Gala on December 5, 2024, in Columbia, Aldrich was inducted into office by her dear friend and mentor, Realtor® Gary Dauksch. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as Dauksch declared, “Keon is a trailblazer whose dedication to progress, equity, and excellence has transformed our industry.” His words reflect the joy and pride felt not just within the association but also across the state.

The outgoing president, Reah Smith, could hardly contain her enthusiasm, stating, “It’s an absolutely incredible and special honor to pass a gavel that smashes straight through a glass ceiling.” With Aldrich taking up this important position, a wave of aspiration washes over current and future Realtors®, showing that change is possible and that diverse leadership can thrive.

What’s Next for Aldrich?

Starting on January 1, 2025, Aldrich will head the largest trade association in South Carolina that boasts over 29,000 residential and commercial Realtor® members. Sounds like a big responsibility, right? But Keon isn’t just any Realtor—she’s ready to lead the charge! Under her guidance, the association plans to prioritize the protection of private property rights and effective transfer of real property. That means homeowners, buyers, and sellers across the state can look forward to better advocacy and support.

Aldrich’s strategic plan will emphasize improved communications, engaging in legislative goals, and enhancing professionalism within the industry. After working in real estate for over 20 years, her experience with various organizations like the Pee Dee REALTOR® Association makes her exceedingly qualified to take up this mantle.

A Record of Service

Her impressive résumé speaks for itself! Aldrich has served as a director at the Pee Dee REALTOR® Association for 11 years and was honored to be the association’s president in 2018. Additionally, her involvement on Multiple Listing Services boards and various committees at the state level illustrates just how dedicated she is to her profession and community.

In recent years, Aldrich has held key positions such as secretary in 2022 and treasurer in 2023, before stepping up to be president-elect in 2024. Let’s not forget that she proudly represented region 4 on various occasions, highlighting her commitment to making a positive impact.

More Than A Realtor

But Keon Aldrich isn’t just all business! Community involvement is a big part of her life. Known for her support of local non-profits like Habitat for Humanity and Harvest Hope, she’s always looking for ways to give back. And in her family life, she’s a loving wife to Brad and a doting mom to daughter Kamryn and son Brayson.

With Aldrich at the helm, it’s clear South Carolina REALTORS® is set for an exciting year ahead. Her authentic spirit, combined with her groundbreaking achievements, creates an inspiring story for all to follow. Here’s to a fantastic 2025 with Keon Aldrich leading the way!
