Lowe’s Partners with Emergency Agencies as Hurricane Season Approaches

A Proactive Collaboration for Community Readiness and Safety

With the arrival of the hurricane season, officials from the Florence County Emergency Management Dispatch (FCEMD) have partnered up with Lowe’s retail store in Florence County to ensure that the community is well-prepared for the coming months. The emphasis of this collaboration is the importance of emergency preparedness and safety in the face of potential disasters.

Promoting Beneficial Supplies and Emergency Kits

Lowe’s took an active role in raising community awareness about hurricane preparedness by hosting an emergency disaster event. During the event, store officials displayed and explained the importance of keeping various supplies at home, such as walkie-talkies, flashlights, food, and water, among others.

Assistant store manager Tyler Carpentier highlighted the efforts of his store team in staging the event. “Raising awareness for the community around us, partnering with emergency services between Lowe’s and police departments, fire departments, and EMS responders is bringing safety and knowledge to hurricane season making sure everybody is prepped up,” Carpentier said.

On-Site Demonstrations and Giveaways

In addition to providing essential supplies, Lowe’s also arranged product demonstrations to guide attendees on their appropriate usage. “We are doing giveaways, we have toys for kids, we have demonstrations on different products to keep your home safe, and how to be prepared for this type of event at your home, and just giving knowledge to both Lowe’s associates and the community,” explained Carpentier.

He further emphasized that being proactive pays off in disaster situations: “It’s always better to be prepared than have to react to one. You always want to have the most up-to-date safety equipment in your home. You want to make sure that you are ready to ensure safety for your family,” said Carpentier.

Community Support

Various local emergency agencies such as the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Florence’s Police Department, and members of the FCEMD were also present at the event although they opted not to give official statements. Apart from these, the Howe Springs Fire Rescue team showcased their trucks and equipment to the community, further fortifying the importance of being prepared during the hurricane season.

In conclusion, the hurricane preparedness event served as a stark reminder of the importance of readiness and building partnerships. With this collaboration between Lowe’s and local emergency agencies, the residents of Florence County can face the upcoming hurricane season with increased assurance of their safety and a fresh perspective of community solidarity.
