McLeod Health Hosts New Graduate Nurse Signing Day in Florence

In a first-of-its-kind event held in Florence, McLeod Health celebrated the advent of more than 55 new graduate nurses into the medical profession. The unique event, styled to mirror athletic signing day occasions, saw the fresh graduates sign their letters of intent to join the McLeod Health team.

Nurses Converge for Unique Signing Day Celebration

Replete with photographs, gifts, and interactive sessions with fellow graduates, the occasion served as a tangible representation of their welcome into the McLeod Health family. The McLeod Health Celebration Signing Day took place at the Florence Center on the evening of Tuesday, June 25. The fresh graduates, keen on embracing their new roles, expressed their commitment to their profession by signing their employment contracts with McLeod Health. The participants represented new hires from McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Cheraw, and McLeod Health Dillon.

The special occasion was enriched by the presence of the loved ones of the graduates who joined the celebrations. Donna Isgett, RN, President & Chief Executive Officer of McLeod Health, addressed the nurses, stating that, “As a nurse, I truly understand what this evening means to each of you.” She further emphasized the importance of the profession, stating, “Nursing is where my heart is. It is what is leading this organization. The sky is the limit on what you can achieve as a nurse.”

The Institutions Represented

Among the graduates were professionals who passed out from prestigious institutions such as Francis Marion University, Central Carolina Technical College, Williamsburg Technical College, Florence-Darlington Technical College, Northeastern Technical College, Galen College of Nursing, Coker University, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Clemson University, Charleston Southern University, and Horry Georgetown Technical College.

Sharing their approach to nurturing talent, Octavia Williams Blake, Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer, said, “At McLeod, we work to recruit and retain the best employees. Our greatest asset is our people,” She expressed gratification at the enthusiasm of the new graduates noting, “We are so grateful you have decided to join our family.”
