New Mexican Restaurant Opens on Lucas Street in Florence

The vibrant City of Florence in South Carolina has welcomed a new addition to its restaurant scene. Monarca’s Mexican Restaurant Bar & Grill has taken its rightful place on Lucas Street, formerly the location of Fatz Cafe.

Bringing New Flavours

The newly inaugurated restaurant opened its doors in mid-August, introducing residents and visitors to an extensive selection of authentic Mexican dishes. The nine-page lunch and dinner menu is highlighted by unique twists on traditional favourites. From cheese steak tacos packed with steak, grilled onions, and cheese, to buffalo nachos topped with grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, bacon, and cheese sauce, patrons can expect a delightful culinary exploration.

Monarca’s is not just about the food; it also features a colourful aesthetic. As visitors approach the restaurant, they are welcomed by a swarm of imprinted colourful butterflies adorning a tall, bright sign by the roadside that lead to the entrance where a giant, orange monarch butterfly is represented on the floor. Within the premises, the once-beige building now glows a bright red to match red leather booths and barstools, providing a pleasant dining atmosphere.

A Taste of Mexico in Florence

Monarca’s is the second Mexican restaurant to open this year in Florence. El Dos Agaves, another contemporary Mexican restaurant, opened in mid-April on Pamplico Highway. Both joints are contributing to the melody of more than a dozen Mexican restaurants across the city, demonstrating the growing popularity and love for Mexican cuisine within the local community.

Driving Local Economic Growth

Recent efforts to stimulate business have led to new ventures popping up in Florence. From the southern-styled breakfast and lunch menu at the newly opened Downcountry Grill to fresh retail spots like Jack’s Books, Florence’s only independent bookstore, the city is on track to become a lively hub of commerce and dining.

The opening of Monarca’s Mexican Restaurant Bar & Grill is welcomed by the community and looks forward to leaving a lasting impression on its patrons. The restaurant opens from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, serving locals and visitors with delightful meals and refreshing drinks.
