As November rolls around, the lovely city of Myrtle Beach is getting ready to put on its warmest welcome for veterans and their families. This month, various events are lined up to show appreciation for the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. From heartfelt ceremonies to fun-filled activities, there’s something for everyone!
Kick off the celebrations with a special Veterans Day Appreciation Ball on November 8! This festive gathering will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center. Veterans in the Market Common area are invited to join for an evening filled with entertainment, camaraderie, and community spirit. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect and celebrate!
The big day arrives on November 11, which is packed with multiple ceremonies across the region. At 11 a.m., the city’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony will kick off at the World War II Memorial located at Warbird Park. This solemn occasion is perfect for paying tribute to all those who have served our country.
Also on November 11, don’t miss the chance to ride the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach. They are offering free flights to veterans and military personnel from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Furthermore, the iconic wheel will be illuminated in red, white, and blue, shining brightly as a tribute to our heroes.
Naturally, Myrtle Beach isn’t alone in honoring our veterans. North Myrtle Beach will host its annual ceremony at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, starting at 11 a.m.. Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina University invites everyone to a free event, A Salute to American Veterans, at the Wheelwright Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on the same day.
The Town of Surfside Beach is slated to hold its annual ceremony at Memorial Park beginning at 2 p.m.. For those looking for a hearty celebration, the American Legion Post 178 will be hosting a free event starting at 11 a.m. on Highway 17 Business, complete with food and activities for all ages!
On November 8, the Grand Strand Detachment of the Marine Corps League will celebrate the 249th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps at an exciting event in Murrells Inlet. Be sure to also check out the VFW Post 10420, which will hold a ceremony at noon to honor our veterans.
And let’s not forget about the Annual Veterans Day Parade happening on Monday at 2 p.m. on Front Street! Join in for a chance to celebrate our heroes visually with floats, marching bands, and a sense of community as you honor those who have fought for our freedoms.
From November 9, a stunning display of around 300 U.S. flags will be showcased at the International Paper site on Bourne Street to honor veterans and first responders. These flags will remain until a special ceremony on December 14, a beautiful sight that will surely resonate with the hearts of many.
