The normally sunny and warm Myrtle Beach experienced a refreshing change this weekend, as clouds dominated the sky on Sunday and temperatures dropped slightly. The weather shift that began on Saturday provided locals and visitors with a break from the usual summer heat.
The rain held off for the majority of the afternoon, paving the way for a pleasantly cool climate. As the night fell, temperatures too made a transition, resting comfortably in the low to mid-60s inland and in the upper-60s along the coast. The high cloud cover that enveloped the city on Saturday continued to hang out throughout Sunday, making for a cooler day.
The high humidity that Myrtle Beach residents and tourists have been grappling with also made an exit. The dewpoints were expected to plummet by 7-10 degrees by 7 a.m., resulting in much fresher airs blanketing the area. The lower humidity and dewpoints made for a refreshing difference.
Weather predictions for Sunday suggested a possibility of isolated showers during the afternoon. The areas located near and slightly west of the coast were expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy. That notwithstanding, the temperatures were estimated to hover in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees throughout the area.
The climate changes were not limited to the weekend alone. The weather forecasts for the days ahead, including the Pee Dee, and border belt region, predicted dewpoints in the 50s for Sunday through to Wednesday. This shift signaled the beginning of an extended period of refreshing climate change.
Residents and visitors were expected to see the skies gradually get sunnier and sunnier as we got into Monday and Tuesday. Despite the clearing skies, the temperatures were predicted to remain modest. Highs were expected to linger in the low 80s on Monday before warming into the low to mid-80s on Tuesday under lots of sunshine.
Although summer is a time of sunshine and heat, the recent weather changes in Myrtle Beach offered a refreshing change. With high cloud cover, lower temperatures, and a decrease in humidity, the area enjoyed a cool and comfortable weekend. Luckily, this weather was expected to continue into the new week, ushering in clearer, sunnier skies and manageable temperatures. This shift in the weather outlook was a welcome relief for both residents and visitors, who managed to enjoy the city’s delights without the typical summer’s sweltering heat.
