She had previously spent eleven years on the Florence One School Board and nine years on the Florence Housing Commission. Hye Moore was a passionate advocate for education and housing, and her influence continued to resonate throughout the community long after her time in office.
One of Hye Moore’s most significant contributions was the founding of the East Florence Community Organization and Hearts for the Homeless, initiatives that sought to uplift and support those facing hardships in the community. She was also a co-founder of the Alliance for Youth and the beloved SC Pecan Music and Food Festival, which brought joy and entertainment to many.
Hye Moore’s influence extended beyond local festivities. She worked with the National Youth Sports Program and served on the Executive Committee of the Florence County Democratic Party. Her efforts included organizing community events like the Florence Christmas Parade, and her work with the Raging Storm traveling Teen Basketball team showcased her dedication to youth and sports.
During her service, Hye Moore received numerous accolades, including an award from the Housing Authority of Florence and even a key to the city in 2022. She was especially passionate about initiatives like creating a tiny home community aimed at providing permanent housing solutions for families experiencing homelessness.
Her reputation as a mentor and role model is well-earned, with many speaking of her impact on their lives. Hye Moore’s commitment to justice and equality solidified her status as a tireless advocate for all members of the community, particularly the most vulnerable.
