If you were in Florence on November 1, you might have been among the throngs of festival-goers enjoying the 20th annual SC Pecan Music and Food Festival. As the city buzzed with excitement, approximately 50,000 attendees flocked to downtown Florence for a jam-packed day filled with music, food, and fun!
The festival kicked things off with various running events, including a 5K, 10K, and a half marathon, which had fitness enthusiasts running through the picturesque streets. Cyclists had a blast too, with organized bike rides setting a brisk pace for the day. And let’s not forget the classic car show—classic car lovers had their hands full as they admired stunning models lining the downtown streets.
But the heart of the festival? You bet it was the music! With nine stages filled with local and regional talent, there was never a dull moment. The energy was infectious as the South Florence High School dance team brought down the house with their spirited performance. And if you’re a fan of throwing it back to the classics, you were in for a treat with Starship, featuring the legendary Mickey Thomas, as the headline act.
Families, rejoice! The Kids Zone, located on the lawn of the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center, was a safe haven for children looking for fun. Kids were seen playing games like Connect 4, and they even had the chance to find hidden pecans in a hay-filled area! Surely, those adorable little fingers were working hard!
Adding to the atmosphere, characters like Spiderman and the incredible Bubble Man entertained kids and parents alike. It’s not every day that you can see a superhero up close, right?
Of course, let’s not overlook the highlight of many at any food festival – the food! Vendors set up booths showcasing some of Florence’s best culinary creations. From pecan pies to savory delicacies, there was something for everyone. The tantalizing aromas wafting through the air were enough to make anyone’s stomach grumble!
As the day continued, the Jebb Mac Band and the Ross Osteen Band kept the audience grooving on the Main Stage and Blues Stage respectively. No corner was left untouched by music, with adults and children alike dancing in the streets! The South Dargan Street came alive with melodies, drawing everyone into a celebratory dance.
The festival wrapped up in style as Mickey Thomas and his team took the *Main Stage* for a spectacular performance, filling the night air with classic hits that had everyone singing along! It was a fitting end to a vibrant day, leaving festival-goers buzzing about next year’s event.
Excited for round two? Save the date! The SC Pecan Music and Food Festival will be back on November 1, 2025. And for all the vendors looking to join in, make a note that applications will be available starting February 1. This is one festival you won’t want to miss!
So, if you missed out this year, you definitely have a year to mark your calendar and prepare for an even bigger celebration in 2025!
