SLED Investigates After Car Burns Near Darlington Business

DARLINGTON, S.C. – The early Sunday morning tranquility of the small southern city of Darlington, South Carolina was shattered when a car was found ablaze near a vape store on the bustling 500 block of Pearl Street. Local authorities, suspecting foul play due to the suspicious nature of the fire, have called in the esteemed State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to further investigate the disconcerting event.

SLED Called In To Probe Suspicious Car Fire

According to Lt. John Gutierrez of the Darlington Police Department, the unusual circumstances surrounding the car fire led them to rope in SLED for a comprehensive investigation. What raised further alarm bells was the severe intensity of the fire with flames extensively engulfing the car by the time the firefighters arrived on the scene.

Gutierrez noted, “Given the peculiar nature of the incident, we thought it best to call upon the expertise and resources of our colleagues at SLED.”. As of now, the local cops and SLED are working jointly to get to the bottom of the case.

Firefighters Manage to Prevent Fire Spread

Digital leaders, the team from the local fire department was able to extinguish the fire promptly, managing to prevent the fire from advancing to the vape store, which could have resulted in far direr consequences. Fire Chief Patrick Cavanaugh commended his crew for their quick response and efficient handling of the incident.

Providing some details, Chief Cavanaugh stated “Upon arriving at the scene, we found the car completely covered in flames. It was a stroke of good fortune that we were able to extinguish the fire in good time before it could spread to the nearby vape store.”

Although the store was not directly affected by the blaze, it did suffer some smoke damage due to the proximity of the incident.

SLED Investigation Underway

SLED, which is known for its meticulous investigative proceedings, is currently examining the charred remains of the vehicle in an attempt to ascertain the cause of the fire. What may initially seem like a typical car fire has now transformed into a full-blown investigation with SLED agents meticulously scanning for clues and documenting anything out of the ordinary.
