Warm Days and a Supermoon: What to Expect in Myrtle Beach This Weekend

Warm Days Ahead in Myrtle Beach: A Friendly Reflection on the Weather!

Hello, Myrtle Beach! If you’ve stepped outside today, you might have noticed it’s feeling a tad warmer than the past few days. However, with temperatures hovering in the mid-60s, it’s still a bit cooler than what we usually expect this time of year. These readings are more reminiscent of what we’d anticipate in mid-November rather than mid-October. But don’t worry, as the sun is shining brightly, and warmer days are just around the corner!

What to Expect Tonight

As night falls, temperatures will dip down to about 40 degrees in the Pee Dee areas and around 44 degrees at the beach. So, if you’re heading out, maybe grab a light jacket to keep cozy under the stars!

Catch the Supermoon!

Exciting news for sky-watchers! Tonight’s full moon is a supermoon known as the Hunter’s Moon. This marks the third supermoon of the year, so if you love moon-gazing, tonight is the night! What’s a supermoon, you ask? It’s a term used when a full moon lines up with the moon’s closest point to Earth, which is called perigee. When this phenomenon happens, the moon can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual—pretty amazing, right?

How Close is the Moon?

You may be wondering just how much closer the moon gets during a supermoon. Well, it can differ quite a bit! The distance between the moon at perigee and its furthest point (known as apogee) is around 25,000 miles. It’s fascinating to think about how something so far away can have such a big effect on our night sky.

Sunny Days Ahead!

Now let’s talk about the forecast for the days to come. High pressure is moving in, which means we’ll be in for plenty of sunny skies this weekend! With sunshine brightening our days, temperatures are expected to bounce back into the 70s, making it a perfect time for outdoor activities or just soaking up some rays. It looks like we can continue enjoying this lovely weather into next week, with highs projected to stay in the mid and upper-70s by Monday!

Time for a Footwear Celebration!

Mark your calendars for National Croc Day on October 23! It’s the day to showcase your most vibrant and bold Croc colors. So, dust off those colorful clogs and get ready to share your love for these comfy shoes. Whether you wear them to the beach or just around the house, it’s all about celebrating comfort and style!

Preparing for Winter

Although we are currently enjoying these mild temperatures, it’s never too early to think about winterizing your home. There are plenty of tips and tricks out there that are simple and affordable. Now might be the perfect time to start getting your home ready for the holidays. A home improvement expert has handy advice on how to prepare so we can smoothly handle anything unexpected that comes our way.

So, Myrtle Beach, there you have it! A wonderful slice of weather, a full moon to marvel at, and upcoming events to look forward to, all wrapped up in a few friendly updates. Let’s make the most of these lovely days ahead!
