Hey there, Myrtle Beach residents! If you’re stepping outside this evening, you might want to grab that umbrella. We’ve got some clouds rolling in, and they’re bringing scattered showers with them. So, keep an eye on the sky as these little clusters of rain make their way into our area. Some of you might even see a bit of lightning, although not everyone will get wet. In fact, there’s a chance that a few spots, especially along the coast and into Pee Dee, might stay completely dry!
As we transition into Sunday morning, expect a rather gray start to the day. Those clouds aren’t going anywhere just yet. Some of you could see a few light showers or maybe even some drizzle early on, so maybe that umbrella is still a good idea! Thanks to high pressure hanging out in the northeast, we’ll be experiencing a bit of a cool-down. This will drive in some cool, dry air, making Sunday feel a tad dreary.
If you’re in the Pee Dee, temperatures are likely to stay pretty chilly, only reaching the low 60s. However, if you head closer to the coast, you might experience a pleasant surprise with highs creeping into the 70s! As Sunday evening approaches, those clouds will continue to linger, leading us into a cloudy Monday morning.
As for your Sunday night plans, expect lows to be in the low to mid 50s. A light jacket might be your best friend if you’re heading out! It’s a perfect night to cozy up at home, maybe watch a movie or whip up a delicious meal. Just a reminder, with those cooler evenings, any warm drink can add just the right touch of comfort to your night.
As we roll into the next week, it looks like we’ll be starting off gradually warming up to the low 70s. But by the end of the week, we could see those temperatures inching back towards the lovely 80s. Isn’t it funny how quickly things can change? But there’s a catch; after Sunday, it seems that rain will be taking a break from our area, with chances falling to zero.
With less rain in the forecast, there’s an important point to make: drought conditions could be getting worse in the near future. It’s something to keep in mind, especially with the fall fire season creeping up on us. As leaves, sticks, and other debris start to scatter, we are at risk, particularly with dry grounds providing the perfect recipe for fire hazards. So, if you have outdoor activities planned, be cautious and keep safety at the forefront!
Now, let’s talk about the tropics. The good news is that things are looking pretty calm over the next week. The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a spot in the Southwest Caribbean Sea, but no immediate development is expected. In fact, they’re only giving it a 20% chance of development by the end of the week. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for more good news to come!
That’s all for now, Myrtle Beach! Stay safe out there, and enjoy your weekend! Whether you’re making plans to stay in or venture out, keep the weather in mind. Cheers to cozy evenings and hopefully, a little more sunshine later in the week!
