Bond revoked for woman charged in deadly Darlington County overdose

A female resident of Darlington County, South Carolina, identified as Haley Mooneyham, faced the stringent action of bond revocation recently in connection with multiple charges comprising of involuntary manslaughter and distribution of fentanyl in 2022.

Involvement in Fentanyl Distribution

Mooneyham made her appearance in court on the day of her bond revocation hearing. A Grand Jury from Darlington County indicted her with charges of involuntary manslaughter along with the distribution of the potent opioid, fentanyl. on top of these, the list of allegations against her also includes her role in the death of a 26-year-old local, Timmie Cassidy.

Law enforcement authorities stated that Mooneyham was responsible for providing the narcotics substances that led to his unfortunate demise. Prior to the recent revocation, she was out of jail on a $52,500 bond.

History of Previous Arrests

A precedent to the current issue, there has been a history of arrests against Mooneyham. Chesterfield County Police apprehended her on the grounds of assault by a mob back in September of the previous year. Later, on the onset of June, she faced arrest by the Hartsville Police over a range of charges, which notably included possession of drugs. A Hartsville City judge subsequently set a bond of $3,000 in addition to a personal recognizance bond.

Due to allegations of violating house arrest and breaching the good behavior provision, prosecutors presented a motion to revoke her bond. Consequent to this submission was the termination of her bond by the judge.

Relief for Victim’s Family

Cassidy’s parents hailed the court’s move of revoking Mooneyham’s bond. According to them, such a step showed she was not considering the charges against her earnestly. Speaking about the bond revocation hearing, Lynn Cassidy expressed relief with the judge’s decision, saying “They revoked [her bond]. She will sit in Darlington County Detention Center until court dates for her pending violations and for the death of my son.”

Aftermath of Bond Revocation

Mooneyham has the option to request the judge to reconsider her bond revocation at a future date. Till then, she will be detained at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
