In the bustling city of Florence, The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce recently held the second Women in Commerce luncheon at the Florence Center. The event, meant to foster connections and provide insight on career growth for women, was a complete sell-out, much to the delight of the hosts and attendees alike.
This esteemed gathering attracted a diverse group of attendees, ranging from budding entrepreneurs to top-tier executives, who were all eager to share their experiences, tips, and opportunities. The program, beautifully conceptualized by the Chamber, comprised of several networking opportunities as attendees enjoyed delectable delicacies and refreshing mocktails. Not just that, it also included unique hospitality visits, promising an intimate and enriching afternoon for all the attendees.
Amid an atmosphere brimming with potential, the event presented an opportunity for women to learn from the best in the industry. Julie Janson, the executive vice president and chief executive officer for Duke Energy Carolinas, served as the keynote speaker. She led a riveting discussion on how to navigate career growth as a woman. Her real-world insights, cultivated from years of industry experience, resonated with the audience, providing them with actionable takeaways to stimulate their career trajectories.
In addition to Janson, some other notable attendees included Donna Isgett, the president and CEO of McLeod Health, and South Carolina native Marva Smalls, executive vice president of public affairs and chief of staff for an American children’s television network. Their presence at the luncheon further bolstered its significance, and they enriched the gathering by sharing their sage advice and personal career growth stories.
The Women in Commerce luncheon came to fruition owing to the support of numerous sponsors and supporters. Duke Energy was the primary sponsor for the occasion, with McLeod Health and MUSC of Florence extending their support as well. The involvement of such esteemed organisations only amplifies the significance of this event in promoting women’s roles in commerce and entrepreneurship.
Representation, networking, and skill-building are essential pillars of success for any professional. The Women in Commerce luncheon facilitated these for numerous women, providing a much-needed platform for women in commerce to connect, learn, and evolve. With this event’s staggering success, it is hoped that it will continue to be a regular fixture on the calendar, establishing itself as a beacon event for women in commerce in Florence and beyond.
